Clintonville’s History
Clintonville's story begins in the 1800's with the creation of Franklin County and its Clinton Township. A post office was built on the corner of Oakland Park Avenue and High Street, then known as the Sandusky Turnpike, and it was designated as "Clintonville." In the early 1900s, Columbus residents began to build summer homes in the area and with the arrival of the automobile, farms and woodlots were turned into more than 80 subdivisions.
During the 40's, Clintonville's population expanded northward towards Morse Road. Today Clintonville encompasses many neighborhoods; including Crestview, Walhalla, Dominion Park, Northmoor, Webster Park, Northridge, Overbrook, Rosemary Park, Indian Springs subdivisions, as well as the Beechwold subdivisions and more than 70 other formally named subdivisions.
